Garland

Northeast of Dallas — established, well-priced housing within reach of the city's employment centres.

An aerial view over the residential streets of East Dallas towards White Rock Lake, with the downtown skyline on the horizon.

Garland sits northeast of Dallas and offers something the close-in neighbourhoods cannot: more house, and often more lot, at a lower entry point. The city built out largely in the post-war decades, so the housing stock is consistent and the streets are settled.

Character

  • A practical alternative for buyers who need space and are willing to trade a few minutes of commute for it.
  • Housing stock is predominantly post-war and later, which means less variation in condition than the older Dallas districts.
  • Good access to the northeastern employment corridor and to the lake.

Housing stock

  • 1950s and 1960s ranch houses on generous lots
  • Later 1970s and 1980s suburban houses
  • Some recent small-lot infill and new construction
